David Neuer "...But Now I Can't Remember Which Cup I Drank From"

One of the most focused, yet diverse David Neuer collections, with recordings made between 1987 and 2000. Improvised, free-jazz-esque guitar romps, a double-tracked audio horror show screaming-duet with Christina Kjær, and a dusty 90-verse(!) folk song with genius lyrics (that we all wish we had written), are amongst the things you'll encounter on David's fourth full length (and second in a month)! Not among his most accessible releases, but among his best. A first for a Neuer release here, is the inclusion of liner notes and a lyric sheet.

1. Prince Chip - A Chipbute to My Girlfriend's Ferret 2. Sad-Eyed Low-Life of the Spat-Lands 3. You Can't Trick Me 4. Do Your Host Virginia (1st Take) 5. Matrolocklidge Eh 7 6. Wicked World 7. No More Horry Shows 8. Them Vinions (Spoken)

David Neuer "I've Swallowed Reality, But It Hasn't Made Me a Healthier Man..."

The slow, groovy 16 minute "The Bachelor Soundtrack", and the nearly 38 minute long multi-part guitar-only excursion, "The Musical Creation Tale" form 'Mr. Neuer's Lo-fi Ambient-Psych Drone Album'. He performed and recorded these tracks he was just 19 years of age! Jan Bloch Frederichsen joins in on bass.

cryptic scenery
"Four Crescent Figures"
Depending on who you ask, this is cryptic scenery's seventh(!) full-length, recorded on a four-track in the group's rehearsal room, yet with a sound that's incredibly full and fleshed out; their live sound has actually been well reproduced. The album is their most heterogenous to date - with short instrumental pieces, sombre piano-based songs, twangy guitars, symphonically droning synths, intelligent indie pop and white noise. Still, the combinations fit together. Filled with dramatic moments, where you either sit tranquilly, or can't help but stand up and headbang/play air guitar - in an indie sort of way, of course, "Four Crescent Figures" goes full circle.

Various artists: 'Footnotes: Musical Chain Letters Odds & Ends'

You'll have to hear the Musical Chain Letters album first, to fully appreciate Footnotes, but this EP is more necessary than evil. The cd-r includes earlier or alternate versions of "Filthy Dreams" and "Bell (Dark)", a radically rearranged version of "Fra dinosaurus til fugl" by Snospray, plus Apis' tracks from two of the three songs he contributed to on MCL. Lastly, you get a completely new piece, containing 10 individually produced tracks, mixed into one big hodge podge of mellow sonic madness!

Various artists: 'Musical Chain Letters'

This may actually be one of the most (conceptually) ambitious "record-projects" to come out of the Danish / Canadian / American / German underground music scenes! Ok, so maybe that's a bit of an ambitious claim. But as the album's title implies, we're talking about 9 pieces of music here, each which are comprised of audio input from 4, 5 or 6 different artists. One artist would start a piece, and then send it along to the next artist, etc. (If nothing else, the "Musical Chain Letters" album adds a new dimension to home recording and musician-collaboration.)

1. Hole in the Ocean Not Supposed To Drink It, Antenne, maquatre, Wyn, Sir Anthony Apollo.
2. Connect the Dots: A Cogno-Intellectual Exercise Apis, The Morningside, Reject66, Nasa Dude, Mox.

cryptic scenery "CD-R"

Taken from the album "Four Crescent Figures", "CD-R" is trance-like, dynamic and danceable. The EP-single also includes a version of "Två Vågor", another "4CF" track - here, edited by Ton Darly. Live recordings of "Oceanic Feeling", "No Tomorrow" and the famous über-minimal "Being" round off the set, along with two beautifully melancholy previously unreleased tracks. "CD-R" is released on... CD-R, in two versions: a Bremen edition and a Copenhagen edition, where the handwriting on the CD-Rs (by Christian H. Sötemann and Chris BSBTA respectively) is the biggest difference between the two.

BSBTA Talkathon Series, Vol. 1: Danske digtoplæsninger af Christina Kjær & David Neuer

The first installment in a series of poetry readings. This one will only do you good if you understand Danish, as that is the language being recited by Ms. Kjær and Mr. Neuer, both known from the band Not Supposed To Drink It... and as solo musicians (well, in Neuer's case anyway). Lo-fi, cosy and... well written!

Here are six versions of one the most minimal guitar pieces you've ever heard, performed by Christian H. Sötemann solo, and with his band cryptic scenery. tsk tsk tsk "Tempo Konsum"

As a contrast to the heralded "Furballs of Frustration" compilation track "Funky Rapper", most of the pieces on "Tempo Konsum" are cute little semi-fuzzy pieces not unlike something you might find on an old easy listening / disco / synth pop / polka mix-tape at a Bavarian flea market (or whatever). The melodic, upbeat organ chirps and thumping beats are ideal for home, office, school or dancefloor - all in all, a neat party record! Note the special hand-stamped-brown-paper-bag-packaging...

The second Mach II EP, and first on BSBTA, provides you with thick guitar and synth action, backed by killer drums and a sporadic reverberating voice blurting such endearing phrases as "Check it out" and "Shake that ass"! David Neuer "She Still Needs Me To Tell Her the Colours of the Flowers: Newer and Elder Recordings 1990-2000"
Covering a period of the usual ten years or so, these recordings present David Neuer from his most melodic song-based side, especially, though there are just as many dark-psych semi-instrumentals and unaccompanied song stories here... which all have that lovely, crazy Danish/New Zealandic (Tall Dwarfs, Roy Montgomery) flavour to them.

David Neuer "Under This Lamp Post of Mine: Difficult Songs 1990-1991"

Indeed, Mr. Neuer can do more than the minimal sketches heard on his previous release... there are folkish acoustic songs, dramatic noise bursts and stoner-esque jams on this album! Lasting between 20 seconds and 6½ minutes, the lo/no-fi tunes are as valid today as ever in terms of style and substance - you wouldn't think that they were actually made way back when!

Psychoambient for the masses? The debut full length from Mr. Ix (né Aix) has its relaxing and chaotic moments, that can be heard in sixteen new compositions, with snippets of guitar and synth amongst the calm / noisy waves and modulated beats. "Rated Ix" also contains four "bonus" tracks, which take up the form of remixes: two are of others' tunes (MC Eurobooty and Tang Under the Bridge), the other two are rearrangings of older Branta Aix stuff by Tang Under the Bridge and Tha Phantom Phootsoules

David Neuer "The Enquiry Regarding Sub-Mortal Evidence: Lift Songs 1990-1995"

This retrospective Greatest Hits-esque debut(!) EP, from the North Sjælland native contains sparsely accompanied, improvised short (for the most part solo) recordings, with traces of blues, cabaret, crooning... and almost anti-musical manic zaniness (think The Boredoms, Jandek or Wild Man Fischer) among other things. Not quite the elevator music that we're accustomed to hearing!

A more mid-fi, sonically dynamic effort compared to the first album, the bulk of the songs hereon (and there are many!) are accompanied by weird effects, simple beats, and noisy experiments (ah, the virtues of technology)... whereas the rest are of the more "familiar" stripped-down sort.
